English · Meaning

There is, in a certain forest region, a great lake inhabited by various aquatic creatures. There a lone crane had taken up residence and, having grown old, was unable to kill the fish. Then, with his throat parched by hunger, he sat on the lake’s bank, sprinkling the surface of the earth with streams of tears resembling clusters of pearls, and wept. A certain crab, accompanied by various aquatic creatures, approached him and, saddened by his sorrow, respectfully said this: “Uncle, why is food activity not being carried on by you today? You merely remain with eyes full of tears and with sighing.”
