Indeed, a firm thought keeps turning in my heart: the virtuous Sita, gone into separation from me, is unable to live.
मयि भावो हि वैदेह्यास्तत्त्वतो विनिवेशितः। ममापि भावः सीतायां सर्वथा विनिवेशितः॥ ५२॥
Vaidehi’s affection has truly been placed in me; and my affection, too, has been placed in Sita in every way.
एष पुष्पवहो वायुः सुखस्पर्शो हिमावहः। तां विचिन्तयतः कान्तां पावकप्रतिमो मम॥ ५३॥
This is a flower-bearing wind, pleasant to the touch and bringing coolness; but for me, as I think of that beloved woman, it is like fire.
सदा सुखमहं मन्ये यं पुरा सह सीतया। मारुतः स विना सीतां शोकसंजननो मम॥ ५४॥
I always consider pleasant the wind that formerly blew together with Sita. But that same wind, without Sita, causes sorrow for me.
तां विनाथ विहङ्गोऽसौ पक्षी प्रणदितस्तदा। वायसः पादपगतः प्रहृष्टमभिकूजति॥ ५५॥
Then, without her, this bird—the crow—having called out, the crow perched in a tree joyfully caws.
