English · Meaning
In the illustrious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, in the Yuddha Kāṇḍa, this is the seventy-ninth sarga. Seeing Makarākṣa who had gone forth, the foremost of the monkeys all leapt up at once and took their positions, eager to fight. ॥ 6.79.1 ॥
Then the monkeys and the night-roamers were crushing one another with the hurling of trees and spears, and with the casting down of maces and iron clubs.
The night-roving demons, with spears, swords, maces, lances, and javelins, and with pattisas and bhindipālas, attacked from all sides with showers of arrows.
